Frequently Asked Questions

How it works?
This kits contains all you need to personalize two unique fragrances.Take all the components out. There are two perfume bottles and two ingredients, two pipettes, scented blotters, and a brochure. Read through the brochure or scan the QR code to arrive to the video. If using the brochure, flip through until you get to the pictograms and instructions (4 & 5) on how we go about creating your own fragrances.

First, smell all five of the pre-scented blotters and choose the one that you and your loved one like the most. Don’t forget to consult the fun facts included throughout the brochure. Pull on each cap to smell each fragrance and put each one back in the same slot so you can re smell and share. Discuss and share your thoughts, a story, tell your truths as you choose one fragrance each.

Second, find your recipe card to create your selected fragrance by matching your blotter to the recipe card.  Example, if you choose 50% Acai + 50% White Tea, find on page 11 the recipe card to create this fragrance.

Open all the bottles.  Using one pipette per concentrate, to avoid contamination between oils. Let’s use the 50% Acai + 50% White Tea recipe card as our example.  The recipe card says to to add 5 mls of acai concentrate to the 48 ml bottle that contains the perfume base. Plunge the pipette into the concentrate, press out all the air, and release for the acai concentrate to fill the pipette. Read how much of the concentrate then transfer the acai into the Tell Me The Truth bottle. Repeat this until 5 mls are measured out. Now I use a clean pipette to measure out 5 ml of white tea. This may remind you of chemistry class and this may be a bit difficult to be precise in your measurements.  Remember the pipettes are perfumer quality and so this is how the perfumers work in their labs.

Repeat for the second person creating their fragrance.  It can be the same recipe as before or a completely new version.

Screw on the pump and shake vigorously to mix all the ingredients well with the base and wait 24 hours in order for the ingredients to thoroughly be soaked up by the base to create a more harmonious, qualitative, and long-lasting fragrance. Patience, you’ll be happy you did. Remember to place a mark on the front label to remember your recipe for next time. Go ahead and draw a line in the middle of the acai-white tea bar on the front 48 ml label to remember your formula, 50%-50%.

Enjoy, relax, and spill the tea.
Why do you have to shake the bottle before using?
Shaking the bottle when ingredients are added to alcohol ensures a uniform blend.  This process helps to thoroughly mix the concentrates with the alcohol creating a consistent scent profile.
Why do I have to wait 24 hours before using the perfume?
Perfumes need time before using them to allow the ingredients to fully blend and stabilize. This process is called maceration, as it helps the top, middle, and base notes to meld together, creating a smoother and more balanced scent.

Allowing a perfume rest after it’s been mixed ensures the fragrance develops its personality. This resting period can enhance the overall quality and longevity of the scent.
Why is it difficult to measure the quantity of drops from the pipettes?
Ahhh, perfumers have skilled assistants called laborantines who meticulously measure each formula the perfumer creates. These laborantines have honed their precision over years of practice, enabling them to measure quantities quickly and accurately.

Tip: To use a pipette effectively, plunge it into the concentrate and press the bulb firmly with your thumb and index fingers to expel all the air. Then, release the bulb to draw in the liquid. Check the liquid line to ensure you’re adding the correct amount of concentrate to the base. Squeeze the bulb forcefully to release all the concentrate. Repeat this process until you reach the desired quantity.
What does the perfume base consist of?
In a perfume base, alcohol and water serve important functions:

Alcohol:
Solvent: Alcohol acts as a solvent, dissolving the essential oils and aroma compounds, ensuring they mix well and create a uniform scent.
Carrier: It helps to carry the fragrance molecules, allowing the scent to disperse evenly when applied.
Evaporation: Alcohol evaporates quickly, which helps to lift and project the scent, making it more noticeable.
Preservative: It also acts as a preservative, helping to stabilize the fragrance and extend its shelf life.

Water:
Dilution: Water is used to dilute the perfume oils, making the fragrance less concentrated and more wearable.
Aroma Release: It aids in releasing the aroma from the essential oils, enhancing the overall scent experience.
Gentleness: Water can make the perfume gentler on the skin, reducing the potential for irritation.

Together, alcohol and water create a balanced base that ensures the fragrance is well-mixed, stable, and pleasant to wear.
What is the difference between Eau De Cologne, Eau De Toilette, Eau De Parfum and Perfume?
These indicate fragrance concentrations however there is no written law that governs this index.

General ranges for each are EDC (3-9%), EDT (10-14%), EDP (15-20%), Perfume (21%+)

FYI: Your Tell Me The Truth EDP creations are concentrated at 20%.
Is there an age restriction for children using the product?
Our packaging clearly states that the product is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. We advise adult supervision for children 12 years old and under to ensure safety. This precaution helps prevent ingestion, eye contact, and spillage of the liquids. While we have taken great care to create a safe environment for this shared experience, it is important to handle alcohol and perfume concentrates with an abundance of caution.
